Therefore, even if the human cold virus comes into contact with cats through droplets or comes into contact with cats, cats will not be infected because the receptors on the surface of immune cells are different. Humans are infected by cold viruses, and conversely, cats’ colds are the same for humans.
Influenza viruses of different species are usually not contagious to each other. Avian influenza is a special case. It once happened in Thailand. A cat living in a poultry processing factory was infected due to close contact with chickens infected with avian influenza. So special attention is given to close contact. Common colds are not contagious between humans and cats.

1. Toxoplasma gondii. It is mainly spread through cat feces. There is a lot of popular science knowledge about this, so I won’t go into details here. 2. Cat ringworm. Once a cat suffers from tinea felis, the chance of transmitting it to humans is relatively high. If not treated properly, the disease is also very stubborn. The weather in the north is dry, so cats in the south are less likely to get sick than cats in the south. However, the sanitary environment at home is very important, and the cat’s resistance is also key.
3. Feline rabies: All domestic cats are vaccinated. Unless the source is unknown, there is usually no problem. It is common for friends in multi-cat households and catteries to be bitten by cats. If you are bitten by a stray cat, you still need to go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.
4. Cat-scratch disease, also known as cat-scratch fever, about 10% of pet cats and one-third of stray cats carry pathogens. It is usually caused by improper close contact between humans and cats and scratches by cats.
