The living habits of little turtles

The turtle’s habits include amphibiousness, wide range of food, temperature-changing characteristics, and gregariousness. Turtles breathe with their lungs, and the place they live should be relatively humid, but not too watery; turtles are omnivores and eat both animal and plant feeds; the body temperature of turtles changes with the outside temperature. From November to April of the following year, tortoises enter the hibernation period; tortoises like to live in groups in caves.

Turtles are amphibious

Turtles mainly inhabit rivers, lakes, reservoirs, ponds and other waters. When mature, the eggs are laid on land and do not need to go through a fully aquatic stage. Turtles are divided into water turtles and land turtles. Water turtles live in the water. Some species do not go ashore except for breeding, while land turtles live on land.
The place where the turtle lives is relatively humid. There should not be too much water. You can put it in your own pool or water tank. The water should not be too deep and should not exceed the turtle’s back.

Turtles eat a wide range of foods

Turtles are omnivores, water turtles prefer carnivore, and tortoises prefer vegetarian diets, so they must choose appropriate feeds. The animal feeds that turtles eat include worms, small fish, shrimps, snails, clams, earthworms and animal offal; the plant feeds mainly include plant stems and leaves, melon and fruit peels, wheat bran, etc.

Temperature changing characteristics of turtles

When the water temperature rises to 15°C, it will move out of the hole and start eating when the water temperature is 18°C to 20°C. When the temperature is higher than 35 degrees, the turtle enters the aestivation stage. In winter, turtles still have the habit of hibernating. When the temperature is below 10 degrees, the turtle will dive into the mud at the bottom of the pond or hibernate in the loose soil of straw. You need to pay attention to stopping eating and cooling down.
After hibernating, turtles do not eat or drink, and their heads shrink into their shells. At this time, put it in a cardboard box, put some newspapers, foam, etc. in the cardboard box. It will naturally get in when it gets cold, and then put the box in a warm room.

Turtles like to live in groups in burrows

Turtles are gentle and like to live in groups. Sometimes due to too many groups, the carapace is worn smooth and the skin on the limbs is worn away but they still do not scatter.

Turtles are easier to raise than other animals, are effortless and very auspicious.

Turtles cannot stay under the water for a long time, as it will suffocate the turtles. They need to breathe on the surface and eat under the water, so the water height should not be too high. You also need to prepare a basking platform. Moderate exposure to the sun can promote the turtle’s absorption of calcium and prevent the turtle’s shell from softening. The suitable living temperature for turtles is around 25-30°C. If the temperature is lower than 13°C, the turtle will begin to hibernate. It is best to ensure that the turtle hibernates once a year after it reaches adulthood, which can increase the life span of the turtle. In home breeding, turtle food, small fish, shrimps, vegetables, etc. can be prepared for feeding.

How to breed turtles:

1. First, choose a suitable breeding box for the turtle, which is usually 6 times the size of the turtle.
2. Then put it into a clean water source. If tap water is used, it must be dried.
3. The optimal growth temperature for turtles is between 25-30 degrees. Usually, the turtles should be kept in the sun, but not exposed to the sun.

Things to note when breeding turtles:

1. When raising pet turtles, you need to pay attention to the water level not being too deep. The water level can submerge the pet turtles.
2. There is no need to feed pet turtles every day. Generally, they are fed once every 2 to 3 days.
3. Let the turtle bask in the sun every day, but avoid noon time.
